I bet Stella McCartney had a pony growing up. Partially, because her dad was Sir Paul McCartney (if your father is a Beatle, you instantly get a pony I assume), and partially because only a horse girl would have designed Chloé’s 2001 Spring/Summer collection.
Olivia Rodrigo wore a piece from collection to the Billboard Women in Music Awards, where she presented Lana del Ray with the Visionary Award. Stylist Danielle Goldberg sourced the stallion flares from Los Angeles-based shop Aralda Vintage.
As as second-generation horse girl, I’ve long-admired this collection—it’s an era of Chloé that was both definitive for the brand and McCartney as a designer. It was also a commercial success, which means there’s quite a bit of the collection out there for shopping now: A sequin version of the pants in black-on-black (extra-small) or navy (large), and even jeans (large).
Okay, you don’t want low-rise pants, fine. Here’s the crème de la chestnut crème, look 44, the collection’s linen dress (medium). Imagine it with soft leather boots, strappy metallic heels, a pair of clogs, the occasions are endless.
Rodrigo wears vintage regularly and the assortment is pretty spectacular: pink Chanel suit to meet President Biden Dr. Fauci and Jean Paul Gaultier at the MTV Awards are just two of my favorites to look at (and would be a dream to wear).
I had so many magazine cut outs of this collection on my wall!
