Once I purchase something from a specific vintage brand, I usually start to notice the label everywhere. Over the holidays, I was charmed by this kitten sweater from House of Findings in Miami. (Read: Mine now!) Naturally, now I’m seeing Le Roy Knitwear everywhere these days. Most recently was at Yesterday’s Threads booth inside Knick Nacks Flea Market in Duncanville, Texas.
I picked up another soft knit, this one has a gnome-y cowboy on the front. Much like my kitten sweater, the sleeve has a catch phrase, too:
The weather is perfect for a soft, worn in sweater right now. Layered, thrown over your shoulders, however Harry Styles does it. I know he’s mostly in Gucci, but I do think a nice LeRoy would fit is style, sensibilities, and sense of humor.
There’s not a lot to be found on the history of LeRoy online (this always makes me sad, I want to know more about the people who made fun and silly pieces like this!!), but there is plenty of it for us all to start collecting.
The amount of Texas-dedicated material brand made me think they were based there (here, size small; here, size large; here, size small), or at least in the south (Razorbacks sweater; size large).
But those with other interests will find them here, too: A mouse in a newsboy cap! medium; lots of koalas, medium here but just search ebay for at least 7 options; giraffes in love, large; that phrase about kissing a bunch of frogs; medium.
Cozy! Cute! Comical! What more could you want?
Jenny Walton is a great Instagram follow for anybody who loves old Prada or ladylike dressing with modern pieces.
She wrote a story for NY Mag’s The Strategist about her brooch collection. I’ll admit, I have quite a few but am kind of at a loss of what to do with them (slash never even really think of them at all while accessorizing). Time to pull them out and get pinning.
